Colorado drilling rigs head to other states

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Western Slope is losing drilling rigs to North Dakota and Texas because of rising oil prices.

Researchers said at the peak of the natural gas boom, the majority of rigs were drilling natural gas, but the ratio has nearly reversed as oil prices recover from the recession.

Colorado is expected to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes because of the changes.
